Pictured are three Eurasian Coots. Coots always love fighting one another and seem to start for no reason out of nowhere and stop as quickly as they started. It's always a delight watching them fight and taking photos of them during those moments.
Coots build their nests on the water. In the first photo, you can see a freshly-built nest. The splashes of water behind the nest are the result of a coot running on the water and, thus, creating those splashes. The second photo shows a closer view of a coot in its nest. This particular nest was very close to the path that is frequented by people — hopefully, it will not get disturbed by dogs or humans too much there.
And last but not least, here is a coot doing what a coot will do most of the day — swimming around. They often dive down to search for food. Frequently, that food is just plants that grow at the bottom of a lake or pond.
